Additional comments:

  • While there are definitely exceptions, I believe that as a whole the system is failing the children in care. If there are so many children in care, why are so many workers not returning calls? Why are there such long delays in getting homestudies done? Why are parents told that a sibling group cannot be split, only to have the children separated into other families? I understand that the position is to find a family for a child, not a child for a family....However, of 6,000 children waiting in Michigan alone, how can there be NO family that is considered appropriate for a child?
