Introducing Blaine!

About Blaine:

Blaine would like families to know, “I want to learn how to read so I can drive a truck someday.” He is a young teen who is working hard to achieve his goals. Blaine likes science, cars and trucks. He likes to tinker with anything mechanical and enjoys going out to lunch. Blaine enjoys partaking in imaginary play with stuffed animals. In addition, he likes drawing and listening to music on his iPod, which he especially cherishes. Blaine loves music very much and is always looking to find a new song to listen to throughout the day. He is very fun loving, inquisitive and forthcoming with his thoughts and needs. Blaine’s favorite toys are his iPod and his stuffed animals. He notes that some of his favorite things are playing the Xbox, collecting things and visiting the dollar store and Walmart.

Blaine responds well to one-on-one communications. He can have difficulty coming up with resolutions to his daily stresses and will resort to solutions which are a part of his active imaginary world. Blaine can become quickly overwhelmed when discussing his past and as a result he can have difficulty interpreting information accurately. He is learning to understand how his actions and behavior can affect others. Blaine is working on developing appropriate boundaries and how to be respectful of others’ personal space. He continues to build social skills and his understanding of social cues. Blaine is motivated to learn how to read better and would like a family who will assist him in doing this so he can eventually earn his drivers license.

Blaine would like good food, a warm place to sleep and someone he can count on to be truthful with him. He would like to live where he can swim, tinker in the garage with mechanical things and maybe have a pet. Blaine would do well in an adoptive home where he would be the only or the youngest child in the home. Older siblings who can role model positive life strategies and successes they have achieved would be very beneficial to Blaine. He requires a lot of hands on attention with a family who values education, consistency, structure and is able to draw appropriate boundaries and consequences. Blaine does well with the use of natural consequences that reinforce the rules. The family must have patience and understanding with Blaine as he continues to learn how to appropriately express his feelings when he becomes frustrated. The adoptive family must be active advocates for Blaine and help him succeed in being as independent as he can be. Blaine would benefit from a family who will be adventurous and expose him to many different aspects of life and create many positive memories with him.
