MARE Family Registry

For studied and approved Michigan adoptive families:

Michigan families with completed adoption homestudies or Family Assessments (not foster care licenses) can register with MARE.  Twice a month MARE will provide you (and your worker) with a list of children that “match” the kind of children you’re approved to adopt.  Click here to register!

Studied and approved Michigan families can also be included on MARE’s family website, a companion to our children’s photolisting site.  The website contains no identifying information except for the family’s first name(s) and the city they live in.  A story describing their family, community, hobbies and interests, etc., as well as photographs of the family, are included.  The website can only be accessed by licensed Michigan adoption workers who must first register through MARE.  If a worker wants more information about a family, they will be directed to contact the family’s worker, so confidential, identifying information is never shared directly by MARE.  Click here to register.

For Michigan families interested in adoption and/or foster care who are not yet working with an agency:

Our newest feature in the MARE Family Registry is for Michigan families that do not have an adoption homestudy or a foster care license, and are looking for an agency to work with.  The information provided by families will be made available to adoption workers around the state that are looking for families to study for foster care and/or adoption, who will meet the needs of their waiting children.  To protect families’ privacy and identities, no identifying contact information will be made available directly on the website; workers will be able to search the registry and contact families only through the MARE office.  The information shared by families is voluntary, but the more information provided, the better workers will understand your family and the type of child or children you hope to foster or adopt.  Click here to register.
