Brought to you by the Detroit Workforce Development Department and the Youthville organization.

The Digital Media Education Training is a great opportunity for youth aged 14-18 to get real world,
hands-on experience in:

  • Graphic Design

  • Radio DJ Training

  • Photography

  • Music Technology

  • Website Design

  • Broadcast Journalism

  • Video Production

Students participating in this program will learn about the media industry and the numerous job opportunities that are available should they decide to pursue the profession. The DMET program is a 20-week rotating program, with each course designed over a 5-week period, after which they will rotate into the next 5-week course. Students will also participate in leadership, life skills development, service learning, educational enrichment, career development and work readiness programs. Support services will be extended throughout the year with follow-up support services after program completion.

Sessions run Monday and Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm, Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, and Saturday 11am to 5pm. Students who demonstrate they are committed to the program will receive incentives for their participation, and cash incentives will be given for good grades in core school subjects (Math, Science, English, and Social Studies). Participating youth will also be guaranteed summer youth employment with DWDD if they participate in the Year Round Youth Program. Youth must live in Detroit to participate. Classes start January 13th, but students may be accepted on a rolling enrollment.

Contact Mr. Phil Sherman at (313) 309-1300 with questions about program and enrollment.

This website is designed specifically for the eyes of youth who have been, or are waiting to be adopted. It is meant to be a way to exchange information and gain valuable input from the people that really matter--the youth!

This website includes valuable information for youth, but we always ask for submissions to be sent to us so that we can share short stories, letters, recipes, poetry, drawings, photography, songs, and poetry with each other.

If you think you might like to participate in our monthly poll, check out camp and training opportunities, or would like to send a M.A.R.E. professional a question regarding adoption you can do that and much more on the F.O.A.L. website!
